Questions North Country homeowners ask first
Do heat pumps really work in Adirondack winters?
Yes. The Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating INVERTER units we install deliver 100% of rated heating capacity at 5°F and keep operating to -13°F, or -22°F on the newer H2i Plus models. Ticonderoga's winter design temperature is about -10°F, so a correctly sized system carries most homes on its own. In Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, where -20°F to -30°F nights happen, we size for it and talk honestly about whether you want to keep a small backup for the handful of coldest nights.
How much does a Mitsubishi heat pump cost in the North Country?
A single-zone ductless system is the entry point; a whole-home multi-zone conversion off oil or propane is the top of the range. Zones, line-set length, electrical work and whether your home has ducts all move the number, which is why we price in your home rather than over the phone. What happens to my electric bill?
It goes up, and your oil or propane bill goes away. Because a heat pump moves two to three units of heat for every unit of electricity, the net is lower for almost every home coming off delivered fuel, and lowest of all for homes on electric baseboard. We show you the math on your own bills at the estimate.
Which rebates can I get, and who files them?
In New York, NYS Clean Heat rebates through NYSEG (most of the North Country) or National Grid; the amount depends on the program tier your project qualifies for. In Vermont, Efficiency Vermont rebates plus utility bonuses. We confirm your exact amount at the free estimate and file the paperwork as a participating contractor.
How long does installation take?
Most single-zone installs are finished in one day. Whole-home multi-zone systems usually take two to three days. There is no ductwork demolition, just one 3-inch hole per indoor unit, and we leave the line-hide runs straight and clean.
Do you still install furnaces and boilers?
Yes. We install and service RUUD propane and gas furnaces, RUUD central air, L-Series and FT boilers and hybrid heat-pump water heaters, and we repair existing systems of any brand. If a heat pump is not the right fit for your house or budget, we will tell you and install the right traditional equipment instead.
