Plattsburgh is the biggest city we serve and about 75 minutes from the shop via I-87. It has a housing mix the rest of the North Country does not: 1800s homes in the city's historic districts near the lake, 1950s and 60s ranches and capes in the town, the former Air Force base neighborhoods, student rentals near SUNY Plattsburgh, and lakefront homes along Cumberland Bay and south toward Peru. Winter design temperature is close to -10°F, with wind off the lake that makes it feel colder.
Fuel is the local wrinkle. Some streets in the city have natural gas; most of the town and nearly all of the surrounding county do not.
