Built for a Lake Champlain winter
RUUD has manufactured heating equipment in the United States for over 100 years. The current Endeavor Line furnaces reach 98% AFUE, use variable-speed blowers that hold steady airflow through long duct runs, and carry EcoNet and Bluetooth diagnostics that let our technicians read the furnace instead of guessing. The warranties are among the strongest in the industry when the furnace is registered, which we do for you.
Every model below runs on propane or natural gas. Since utility gas doesn't reach most of Essex County, nearly every furnace we install in Ticonderoga is a propane furnace. Same equipment, same efficiency, with the LP conversion done at install.
We are a factory-trained RUUD installer and a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor ELITE. That matters because the biggest furnace-install mistake in this region isn't the brand, it's oversizing. Old oil furnaces here were routinely sized at twice the real load. We measure the house and size the replacement to it.

The three RUUD furnaces we install

What fuel your new furnace will burn
Propane is the answer for almost every house we visit. It burns clean, delivers full rated efficiency, and your supplier sets and fills the tank. If you're coming off oil, we coordinate tank placement and line work as part of the job; see the oil conversion page for the full scope.
Natural gas is the cheapest fuel per BTU, but only a few streets in Plattsburgh and the Vermont side have service. We check availability first, and if your street has it we install the same furnace on gas.
Oil furnaces are something we repair and maintain, not something we install new. A 60 to 70% AFUE oil furnace replaced by a 96 to 98% propane furnace buys roughly a third less fuel energy for the same heat; your actual savings depend on the local price spread between oil and propane, which we run with real numbers at the estimate.

Signs your furnace is done
- It's 15 to 20 years old. Most furnaces are designed for that lifespan, and efficiency falls well before failure.
- Two repair calls in one winter. Past that point, replacement usually costs less over five years than keeping it alive.
- Propane or oil bills climbing with no change in weather. Worn burners, a tired blower and a dirty heat exchanger all cost you every month.
- Rooms that never warm up, constant thermostat fiddling. The furnace can't keep up with the load, or the ducts can't deliver it.
- Yellow flame, soot, or a burning smell. A combustion problem and a safety problem. Call today.
- Banging, rattling or screeching. Mechanical wear that gets worse, not better.
If it's under 12 years old and the repair is less than a third of a replacement, we'll usually tell you to repair it. Details on the furnace repair page.
How a RUUD furnace install goes
Free in-home estimate
We calculate your home's heat loss, inspect the ductwork and return air, confirm propane or gas supply and venting, and recommend a model and size. No guessing, no upselling to a bigger furnace.
Install and commission
Our own technicians set the furnace, run PVC venting, set gas pressure, configure the LP conversion, and commission to RUUD spec including Bluetooth setup on EcoNet models. Usually one day.
Test, register, guarantee
Full combustion analysis and carbon monoxide test, airflow and temperature rise verified, warranty registered in your name, and our 180-Day Comfort Guarantee on the job.
Ductwork in rough shape? We evaluate it before quoting, because a 98% furnace on leaky ducts is not a 98% system. See ductwork services.
A furnace gets no rebate. A Mitsubishi heat pump does.
If the furnace is at the end of its life and the house has ducts, a Mitsubishi ducted air handler on a Hyper-Heating INVERTER outdoor unit can use those same ducts to heat the house down to -13°F (-22°F on H2i Plus) and cool it in July, with no propane tank, no flue and no carbon monoxide. It qualifies for NYS Clean Heat rebates through NYSEG and National Grid, plus 18 months at 0% financing. A RUUD furnace qualifies for neither.
Plenty of homes are still better off with the furnace: a tight budget, a rental, an electrical panel that can't take the load, or a propane tank already in the yard with a good contract. We'll tell you which one you are. Run the savings calculator first, then let us price both at the estimate.

Paying for it, and where we go
Financing is 18 months at 0% interest through Synchrony on qualifying installs, so a dead furnace in January doesn't have to be a financial emergency. Ask about it at the estimate or on the financing page.
We install RUUD furnaces from Ticonderoga across Essex County (Crown Point, Port Henry, Moriah, Westport, Elizabethtown, Keene, Lake Placid, Schroon Lake, Newcomb), northern Warren County (Hague, Bolton Landing, Lake George, Chestertown, Warrensburg), northern Washington County (Whitehall, Putnam, Dresden), Clinton County (Plattsburgh, Peru, Keeseville) and Franklin County (Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake). Request a free quote, or schedule a tune-up on the furnace you have; pricing is on the maintenance pricing page.
RUUD furnace questions
Do RUUD furnaces run on propane?
Yes. Every RUUD furnace we install is available configured for propane or natural gas, and because most of Essex County has no gas line, propane is what nearly all of our furnace installs burn.
Which RUUD furnace is right for my house?
It depends on your heat loss, your ductwork and how much you want to spend up front versus save every month. The U98MV is the quietest and most efficient, the R972V is the two-stage middle option, and the R951V is the value pick. We size it at the free estimate and recommend what fits, not the most expensive box.
How long does installation take?
Most single-furnace replacements are one day. Adding venting, converting from oil, or correcting ductwork can add a day. You get a timeline before we start.
What AFUE do I actually need?
In a region where you buy every BTU by the propane gallon, the difference between 80% and 96–98% is real money every winter. We install 95% and up only, and the higher tiers pay back fastest in larger or older homes.
Can you replace my oil furnace with a RUUD propane furnace?
Yes. We handle sizing, new sidewall venting, the gas line from your propane tank, and coordination with your propane supplier, then commission and combustion-test the new furnace. We'll also show you what a heat pump would cost against it.
Is there a rebate on a new furnace?
Not a state one. NYS Clean Heat rebates apply to cold-climate heat pumps, not furnaces. We'll show you both numbers so the rebate is part of the decision rather than a surprise later.
Do you register the warranty?
Yes. We register every RUUD furnace in your name so parts, heat exchanger and unit-replacement coverage are active from the first day.
Rebates Available
North Country homeowners switching from oil, propane, wood or electric baseboard to a Mitsubishi cold-climate heat pump qualify for NYSEG or National Grid rebates through NYS Clean Heat, and Addison County, Vermont homes qualify through Efficiency Vermont plus utility bonuses. Rebate amounts change by program and tier — we tell you exactly what your home qualifies for at the free in-home estimate and handle the entire application for you.

★★★★★“This is our second Mitsubishi heat pump … to heat the 30x40 insulated metal building with a single head we put up but handles it great. … they had to order and install the system in a little over 2 weeks to get it done by 12/31 to qualify for a large rebate and they got it done.”
