Accessibility statement
We want every homeowner in the North Country to be able to read this site, request an estimate and reach us, whatever device or assistive technology they use. This page explains how adirondackheatpumps.com is built, what standard we aim for, and how to tell us when something does not work. Last reviewed October 2026.
Our commitment
Adirondack Heat Pumps aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), describe how to make web content usable by people who are blind or have low vision, who are deaf or hard of hearing, who have limited mobility or dexterity, and who have cognitive or learning disabilities.
This site was rebuilt in 2026 as a fast, static website with no page builders, no overlays and no third-party accessibility plugins. Accessibility is built into the pages themselves rather than patched on afterward.
What is built in
- Keyboard access. Every link, button, menu and form control can be reached and operated with the Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space and arrow keys. A "Skip to content" link is the first element on every page. Focus is always visible.
- Screen reader support. One H1 per page, logical heading order, descriptive link text, ARIA labels on navigation and interactive regions, and alternative text on every meaningful image. Decorative graphics, including the animated house on the homepage, are hidden from assistive technology and described in text.
- Readable text. Body text is at least 17px, line length is limited, and color contrast meets or exceeds the 4.5:1 ratio for normal text. Text can be resized to 200% in your browser without loss of content or function.
- Reduced motion. Card and scroll animations respect your operating system's "reduce motion" setting. The homepage hero animation is slow (a 12-second cycle) and contains no flashing content.
- Mobile and zoom. Pages reflow at any screen width and at up to 400% zoom with no horizontal scrolling.
- Forms and embeds. Our chat widget (LeadConnector) and map (Google) are provided by third parties. Each is labeled, and every page also gives you a phone number and email address as an alternative.
- Frequently asked questions use native expandable sections that work with keyboards and screen readers without JavaScript.
Known limitations
Some content comes from outside services we do not control: the chat widget, the Google Maps embed and the Synchrony financing application. We choose vendors that state WCAG support, but we cannot guarantee their conformance. If any of them is a barrier, call or email us and we will take your request directly.
Older blog posts migrated from our previous site may contain images with less descriptive alternative text. We are reviewing them and welcome reports of specific pages.
Browsers and assistive technology
The site is built with standard HTML and CSS and is designed to work in current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android, with screen readers such as VoiceOver, NVDA, JAWS and TalkBack, and with keyboard-only navigation.

Accessibility in your home
Accessibility is not only about the website. Mitsubishi systems can be run from a handheld remote, a wall thermostat, a phone app or voice assistants, and our comfort consultants will place indoor units and controls where you can reach them. If you or someone in your household has a mobility, vision or hearing need that affects how a heating system should be designed or controlled, tell us at the free estimate and we will plan for it. See controls and the Comfort app for options.
