How the Wall Preview Works

Trying to picture a ductless heat pump in the living room at camp, the back bedroom or on the side of the house? Pick the unit first, then point your phone at the wall where you'd like it — usually high on an outside wall, clear of curtains and cabinets — and take the photo. It's the same placement tool our comfort advisors use in your home, so if you book a free estimate they already know where you want it. The tool drops the Mitsubishi unit onto your picture. Drag it into place, pinch to size it, or tap Size from a door and touch both edges of a door in the photo: the unit is then drawn at its real width (a Mitsubishi FX wall unit is just over 39 inches wide, a Designer EX about 35), so the picture is honest about how much wall it takes. Tap Looks right, enter your name and number, and the picture is texted and emailed to you.

Which Unit Should I Try?

  • Hyper-Heat wall unit (FX Deluxe) — the classic ductless head and the most common choice in Essex, Clinton and Franklin county homes. Mounts high on the wall and heats and cools one room or an open floor plan.
  • Designer wall unit (EX) — white, silver or black — a flat, glass-look front panel for living rooms and spaces where looks matter. Try all three colors against your wall.
  • Premier (GX) and HX wall units — slimmer, more compact wall units for bedrooms, offices and smaller rooms.
  • Floor console (MFZ) — sits low on the wall like a radiator. Good under windows, in rooms with sloped ceilings, and for anyone who prefers heat near the floor.
  • 1-way and 4-way ceiling cassettes (MLZ, SLZ) — recessed into the ceiling, nearly invisible. Use Fit corners to line the panel up with your ceiling. Needs attic or joist space above the room.
  • Outdoor unit — single-fan or large double-fan, on a raised stand — the single-fan unit serves one or two rooms; the double-fan Smart Multi is the bigger unit for whole-home and multi-zone systems. Both are shown on a raised stand so they clear Adirondack snow. Try the spot you have in mind; your comfort advisor checks line-set runs, clearances and snow height at the visit.

What Happens With Your Photo

Your picture is saved with your contact details so we can send it to you, and it's attached to your record if you book a free in-home estimate. Your comfort advisor sees where you'd like the unit before they arrive, takes their own placement photos of the install spots and your electrical panel during the visit, and the final estimate shows a picture on each room's line item. We never post your photos anywhere.

A Picture Is Not a Design

Where a unit can go depends on the wall construction, the refrigerant line route to the outdoor unit, the condensate drain, and your electrical panel's capacity — which is why every Adirondack Heat Pumps estimate includes a room-by-room heat load and a panel check. The preview helps you picture it and talk it over at home; the estimate makes it real. For the money side, run the Cost Savings Calculator See It On Your Wall — most oil and propane homes are surprised by what they already spend.

Questions homeowners ask

Does the tool work on a computer?

Yes. On a laptop or desktop you can upload a photo you already have instead of taking one. On a phone it opens the camera directly.

Is the unit shown at the right size?

If you use Size from a door, yes: the tool scales the unit from a standard 30, 32 or 36-inch door in your photo to the real product width. Without a door in frame you size it by eye.

Can I try more than one wall?

As many as you like. Tap Try another wall after each picture. Each photo you keep is sent to you and added to your record.

Which Mitsubishi units are shown?

The images are Mitsubishi Electric product photos: the FX Deluxe Hyper-Heat wall unit, the EX Designer wall unit in white, silver and black, the GX Premier and HX wall units, the MFZ floor console, the MLZ 1-way and SLZ 4-way ceiling cassettes, and the single-fan and Smart Multi double-fan outdoor units on a raised stand. That's the equipment we install as a Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor ELITE.
