Started in Cambridge, built for the North Country
Gerald Davis, a Navy veteran with more than three decades in HVAC, founded our sister company Superior CO-OP HVAC in Cambridge, NY in 2013. By 2020 that company had gone Mitsubishi-exclusive for heat pumps and earned Diamond Contractor ELITE, the top tier Mitsubishi Electric awards. The next question was obvious: the homes that needed cold-climate heat pumps most were two hours north, in the Adirondacks, where there is no natural gas and winter means something.
Adirondack Heat Pumps opened in Ticonderoga in 2022. In July 2024 we moved into the former Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing building at 15 Montcalm Street and turned it into a live showroom: the Mitsubishi wall, floor and ceiling units on display are the ones heating and cooling the building. Come in on a January morning and put your hand in front of one.

What the badge on the door actually means
Mitsubishi Electric ranks its contractors, and Diamond Contractor ELITE is the top of the ladder. It is not a one-time plaque. Mitsubishi grades us every year on training, installation quality and customer satisfaction, and we have to earn it again each time. That annual grading is why we design and install every system by Mitsubishi's guidelines and by the NYSERDA / NYS Clean Heat rules, instead of whatever is fastest that week.
For you it means three concrete things. Our comfort consultants and technicians hold Mitsubishi factory certifications. We can register the 12-year Mitsubishi parts warranty that only a Diamond Contractor install qualifies for (and we register it the day we commission). And we get first access to the newest equipment, including the H2i Plus units that keep heating at -22°F.
Many of our customers were told heat pumps do not work in the Adirondacks. We have taken many North Country homes off oil and propane, from 200-year-old farmhouses to camps in Newcomb, and those homeowners are the ones writing our Google reviews.

A heat pump is only as good as the day it was installed. The equipment on two estimates can be identical; what decides whether it runs twenty winters or three is the part you never see. Every Adirondack Heat Pumps installation includes:
- A load calculation on the house, never a square-footage guess, so the system is sized for -10°F and does not short-cycle in October
- Proper refrigerant line sets — refrigeration-grade copper, insulated on both lines, flared and torqued to Mitsubishi spec, nitrogen-tested and pulled to a measured vacuum
- A drain pan heater so defrost water never freezes into a block of ice under the coil in February
- Surge protection at the disconnect, because rural power is not clean and a fried inverter board is not covered by anyone's warranty
- The condenser on a stand over a framed gravel pad, above the snow line, level, with defrost water draining away instead of pooling
- Clean, straight line-hide runs — sealed wall penetrations, UV-rated covers, nothing that looks like an afterthought on the side of your house

Is Adirondack Heat Pumps part of a national chain?
No. We are a locally owned, veteran-owned company based at 15 Montcalm Street in Ticonderoga, NY. Our sister company is Superior CO-OP HVAC in Cambridge, NY, owned by the same person, Gerald Davis. Our technicians are our employees, and the person who answers the phone works in our office.
What does Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor ELITE mean?
It is the highest tier in Mitsubishi Electric's contractor program. Contractors are graded every year on training, installation quality and customer satisfaction to keep the status. ELITE contractors can register Mitsubishi's 12-year parts warranty and get first access to new equipment.
Do you only install Mitsubishi?
For heat pumps, yes. We also install RUUD propane and gas furnaces, RUUD central air conditioning, boilers and hybrid heat-pump water heaters, and we repair and maintain existing heating and cooling systems of any brand.
Can I visit the showroom?
Yes. Our Ticonderoga showroom at 15 Montcalm Street has working Mitsubishi units heating and cooling the building. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 5:00. Call (518) 812-1958 ahead so someone is free to walk you through them.
