Former Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing customers: welcome to Adirondack Heat Pumps
If Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing used to take care of your furnace, boiler or water heater, here is the short version: in July 2024 Adirondack Heat Pumps moved into their former building at 15 Montcalm Street in Ticonderoga. We are a veteran-owned Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor ELITE, we service the traditional heating equipment you already have, and when you are ready we can show you what a cold-climate heat pump would do for your house. Same address, same phone-answering hours, new name on the sign.
Quick answer
Adirondack Heat Pumps is now at the former Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing location, 15 Montcalm Street, Ticonderoga, NY 12883. We are a full-service heating and cooling contractor working out of the same building, and we would be glad to be the company you call next. If you had a service agreement with Champlain Valley, call us and we will tell you where things stand. Phone: (518) 812-1958, answered 24 hours a day.
What changed, and what did not
Adirondack Heat Pumps opened in Ticonderoga in 2022 as the North Country branch of Superior CO-OP HVAC, a Cambridge, NY company founded in 2013 by Navy veteran Gerald Davis. By 2024 we had outgrown our first space, and the Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing building on Montcalm Street became available. We moved in that July and turned the front of the building into a working Mitsubishi showroom: the wall, floor and ceiling units on display are the ones heating and cooling the office.
What did not change is the kind of work that goes on there. Ticonderoga still needs a local contractor who will come out when the boiler quits in January, service a propane furnace, replace a water heater and answer the phone. That is us. What changed is that the same contractor is also the region's Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor ELITE, which means you now have a real cold-climate heat pump option from the same shop.

We service the equipment you already have
A lot of former Champlain Valley customers heat with oil or propane and are not in the market for anything new. That is fine. Our technicians repair and maintain existing furnaces, boilers and water heaters of any brand, and when something has to be replaced we install RUUD equipment:
- RUUD propane and gas furnaces, plus furnace repair and annual maintenance
- Boiler installation and repair, including RUUD L-Series combi and FT Series heating boilers up to 96% AFUE
- Water heaters, including hybrid heat-pump water heaters that cut hot-water cost sharply
- RUUD central air conditioning for homes that already have ductwork
- Ductwork, indoor air quality and oil-to-propane conversions
- 24/7 no-heat response
One honest caveat: Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing also did plumbing. We do not. We are a heating and cooling contractor; for a plumbing call you will need a plumber.
Our specialty: Mitsubishi cold-climate heat pumps
Many people in Ticonderoga were told, sometimes by their old heating contractor, that heat pumps do not work in the Adirondacks. That was true of the heat pumps sold twenty years ago. It is not true of the Mitsubishi Electric Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) systems we install, which deliver 100% of their rated heating capacity at 5°F and keep running to -13°F, or to -22°F on the newer H2i Plus models. Ticonderoga's winter design temperature is about -10°F.
What that means for a former Champlain Valley customer heating with oil or propane:
- Lower heating cost. A heat pump moves heat instead of making it, producing two to three units of heat for every unit of electricity. For a home on delivered fuel, that is usually a meaningful annual saving. Our savings calculator gives you a number for your own house in two minutes.
- No ductwork needed. Ductless wall, floor and ceiling units fit the village homes, camps and farmhouses around Lake Champlain without tearing anything open.
- Air conditioning you probably never had. The same system cools and dehumidifies in July.
- Rebates. NYS Clean Heat rebates through NYSEG, which serves most of our area. We confirm your amount at the free estimate and file the paperwork.
- A hybrid is an option. You do not have to give up the boiler. Many homes add a heat pump for most of the season and keep the existing system as backup for the coldest nights.
See heat pump installation, ductless mini-splits and whole-home conversions for how each path works.
The install standard you can expect
Adirondack Heat Pumps is graded by Mitsubishi Electric every year to keep its Diamond Contractor ELITE status. Every heat pump we install gets a load calculation, properly flared and tested refrigerant line sets, a drain pan heater, surge protection, a condenser on a stand over a framed gravel pad, and clean straight line-hide runs. Mitsubishi's 12-year parts warranty is registered the day we commission, and the Adirondack Shield Elite Care Plan adds 12 years of labor coverage. Qualifying installs carry our 180-Day Comfort Guarantee. Here is the full standard, and why our estimate is usually the higher one.
How to schedule
- Call (518) 812-1958. A live person answers in the Ticonderoga office Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 5:00. Nights and weekends our assistant takes your details and the office calls back first thing the next business morning. No-heat calls get the first callback.
- Request online. Use the form on our contact page, or go straight to schedule a repair or schedule annual maintenance.
- Stop in. 15 Montcalm Street, weekdays 8:00 to 5:00. The showroom has live Mitsubishi units running, and the office can look at your old equipment's model numbers if you bring a photo.
If you had a maintenance agreement with Champlain Valley, bring whatever paperwork you have. We can tell you where your equipment stands and what our maintenance pricing and service contracts look like.
Questions former Champlain Valley customers ask
Did Adirondack Heat Pumps buy Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing?
We moved into their former building at 15 Montcalm Street in July 2024. Adirondack Heat Pumps is a separate company with its own crews, pricing and service plans. If you had an agreement with Champlain Valley, call us with the paperwork and we will tell you where things stand. We are happy to be your heating and cooling contractor from here forward.
Will you service my oil or propane furnace or boiler?
Yes. We repair and maintain furnaces, boilers and water heaters of any brand, and we install RUUD furnaces, boilers and central air when replacement is the right call.
Do you do plumbing?
No. We are a heating and cooling contractor. Water heaters, yes; general plumbing, no.
Do heat pumps really work in Ticonderoga?
Yes. Mitsubishi Hyper-Heating INVERTER systems deliver full rated heating capacity at 5°F and operate to -13°F, or -22°F on H2i Plus models. Our customers in Ticonderoga, Newcomb and Lake Placid heat with them through the winter, and some keep their old system as backup for the coldest nights.
Is the estimate free?
Yes. A comfort consultant visits, measures, reviews your fuel bills and gives you a written price with NYS Clean Heat rebates applied. If a heat pump is not the right fit, we will say so and quote the right traditional equipment instead.
