12-Year Warranty on Parts and Labor for Mitsubishi Heat Pumps
Every Mitsubishi Electric heat pump we install in the North Country carries a 12-year parts and compressor warranty from Mitsubishi, and the Adirondack Shield Elite Care Plan adds 12 years of labor, trip charges and refrigerant on top. Together they mean a covered failure costs you nothing for over a decade — the longest coverage available to homeowners around Lake Champlain and Lake George.

How the 12-year coverage works
The coverage has two halves, and you need both for a repair to be truly free.
Layer 1 — Mitsubishi's 12-year parts and compressor warranty
Because Adirondack Heat Pumps is a Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Contractor ELITE, qualifying systems we install and register are eligible for Mitsubishi's extended 12-year warranty on parts and the compressor. A contractor without that status cannot offer the same term. Mitsubishi pays for the replacement part. It does not pay for the technician, the drive to your home, or the refrigerant.
Layer 2 — Adirondack Shield labor coverage
The Adirondack Shield Elite Care Plan fills that gap. For $18.50/month per outdoor unit and $9.50/month per indoor unit (from $28/month for a single zone), it covers all labor, trip charges and refrigerant on any covered mechanical failure for 12 years, as long as you renew each year. It also includes the two maintenance visits a year that keep the Mitsubishi parts warranty valid.
Parts from Mitsubishi. Labor, trip and refrigerant from us. $0 to you.

What the combined 12-year coverage pays for
Compressor
The most expensive component in the system. Covered for parts by Mitsubishi and for labor by the Shield for the full 12 years.
Outdoor unit components
Condenser coil, fan motor, capacitor, contactor, control boards and inverter electronics on a covered mechanical failure.
Indoor unit components
Fan motors, coils, control boards and sensors on wall-mounted, floor-mounted, ceiling cassette and ducted indoor units.
Labor and diagnostics
Technician time to diagnose and replace a failed part. No hourly charges on covered repairs.
Trip charges
No travel or service-call fee, whether you are in Ticonderoga or an hour up Route 73 in Keene Valley.
Refrigerant
Refrigerant needed to complete a covered mechanical repair, including R-454B on 2025 and newer equipment.
Not covered: lightning, flooding, fallen trees, external power surges, fire, theft, vandalism, animal damage, cosmetic damage, high-efficiency filters and line set insulation replacement. Those belong to your homeowner's insurance. Full terms are on the Adirondack Shield page.

We register the warranty for you
Mitsubishi's extended parts coverage depends on the system being registered within 90 days of installation. We do that as part of every install. You get the confirmation for your records, and the registration is tied to the equipment serial numbers at your address — important when you sell.
What you need to do: keep up the maintenance. Nearly every manufacturer requires documented annual service to honor a parts claim, and 30–40% of claims industry-wide are denied for missing records. The Shield's two visits a year take care of that automatically. Not on the plan? Book annual maintenance and we keep the record.
Transfer when you sell
The Shield plan is 100% transferable to the next owner — written notice within 30 days of closing and a one-time $99 transfer fee. A 12-year parts and labor warranty on the heating system is a real line item in a listing for a lake camp or a village home.

Warranty questions
Is the 12-year labor warranty automatic with every install?
The 12-year parts and compressor warranty from Mitsubishi comes with every qualifying system we install and register. The 12-year labor, trip and refrigerant coverage comes with enrollment in the Adirondack Shield Elite Care Plan, which starts at $28/month for a single-zone system and renews annually.
What if I bought a Mitsubishi system from another installer?
The Shield is only available on Mitsubishi equipment installed by Adirondack Heat Pumps, because we can only stand behind installs we did. We are glad to service and repair other Mitsubishi systems at our published per-visit rates.
Do I have to keep the plan the whole 12 years?
Labor, trip and refrigerant coverage runs as long as the plan is active and renewed each year. You can cancel with 30 days' written notice; labor coverage ends on the final payment date. The Mitsubishi parts warranty continues on its own terms as long as maintenance records are kept.
Does the warranty cover the system if I move?
The coverage stays with the equipment at the address where it was installed and transfers to the new owner for a one-time $99 fee. It does not move with you to a new house.
What voids the coverage?
Service, repair or modification by anyone other than Adirondack Heat Pumps, or missing more than one consecutive maintenance cycle. Reinstatement after a lapse requires a full system recertification.

★★★★★“This is our second Mitsubishi heat pump … to heat the 30x40 insulated metal building with a single head we put up but handles it great. … they had to order and install the system in a little over 2 weeks to get it done by 12/31 to qualify for a large rebate and they got it done.”
