The only Mitsubishi Diamond Contractor ELITE showroom in Ticonderoga

Our showroom sits on Montcalm Street between the La Chute River and the village center, a few minutes from Fort Ticonderoga and the cable ferry to Shoreham, Vermont. There are live Mitsubishi units on the wall you can run with your own hands, and the people behind the counter are the same people who will be at your house. Adirondack Heat Pumps opened in Ticonderoga in 2022 and moved into the Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing building in July 2024; former Champlain Valley customers are still looked after here.

Ticonderoga has every kind of house we work on. There are 1800s village homes on Champlain Avenue and the streets around Liberty Monument, mill-era houses near the International Paper plant, year-round homes out Route 9N toward Hague, and lakefront camps on Lake George's north basin and the Champlain shore toward Crown Point. Almost none of them have natural gas. They heat with fuel oil, propane, wood and electric baseboard, which is exactly the situation a cold-climate heat pump fixes.

The winter design temperature here is about -10°F. Most nights are far milder, which is why a properly sized Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat system does the bulk of the season on low speed and keeps full output in reserve for the cold snap in late January. In summer the same system gives you real air conditioning and dehumidification, something most Ti homes have never had beyond a window unit.

Cold-climate performance

Why Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat works in Ticonderoga

The Champlain Valley is milder than the High Peaks but still serious cold. The design temperature around Ticonderoga is roughly -10°F, with a few nights most winters that go lower and a damp lake wind that makes old houses feel colder than the number. Mitsubishi Electric Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) equipment delivers 100% of its rated heating capacity at 5°F, keeps operating to -13°F, and the newer H2i Plus and FS-series models run to -22°F. That is a comfortable margin for a Ticonderoga winter.

The inverter compressor modulates its speed to match the load instead of cycling on and off, which is where most of the efficiency comes from. On a 25°F day the system runs low and quiet; on the coldest night of the year it ramps to full output. We size every system from a room-by-room load calculation, not the square footage on a tax card.

We have installed more systems in Ticonderoga than in any other town, and we service them from a shop you can drive past. That matters in February.

What we install in Ticonderoga

No two houses around Ticonderoga are alike, so we do not sell a package. These are the system types we install most often here:

  • Whole-home oil and propane conversions in village homes, with the boiler kept or removed as you prefer
  • Seasonal camp systems on Lake George's north end and the Champlain shore, with freeze alerts through the Mitsubishi Comfort app
  • Floor-mounted units for camps with knee walls and cathedral ceilings
  • Ducted air handlers in houses that already have furnace ductwork
  • Mini-splits for additions, sunrooms, garages and workshops
  • Same-town repair and maintenance on any brand, plus RUUD furnace, boiler and central AC work

Heat pump rebates for Ticonderoga homeowners

Ticonderoga is NYSEG territory, which means NYS Clean Heat rebates administered through NYSEG apply to qualifying Mitsubishi cold-climate heat pump installs. Adirondack Heat Pumps is a participating contractor, so the rebate comes off your invoice instead of arriving as a check months later. Homes converting fully off oil or propane generally qualify for the higher tiers; single-zone and partial-home systems qualify for less.

Because we are local, we can usually get a Ticonderoga install scheduled fast enough to hit a program deadline when one is announced. Ask us what the current tiers look like for an oil-to-heat-pump conversion in your house.

Programs and tiers change, so we do not print dollar figures here. We confirm your exact amount at the free estimate and file the paperwork for you. See rebates & savings and financing.

FAQ

Heat pump questions from Ticonderoga homeowners

Can I see a Mitsubishi system running before I buy?

Yes. The showroom at 15 Montcalm Street has live wall-mounted and floor-mounted units you can switch on, feel and listen to. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 5:00; call (518) 812-1958 first so someone is free to walk you through it.

Does a heat pump really heat a Ticonderoga house in January?

Yes, when it is sized correctly. Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat delivers 100% of its rated capacity at 5°F and keeps operating to -13°F, or -22°F on H2i Plus models. Ticonderoga's design temperature is about -10°F, so a load-calculated system covers the whole season. We will tell you if your house is the rare one that still wants a backup.

Which rebate applies in Ticonderoga?

Ticonderoga is NYSEG territory, so NYS Clean Heat rebates through NYSEG apply. We are a participating contractor and apply the rebate on the invoice. The amount depends on the program tier and how much of your heating the system replaces; we confirm it at the free estimate.

I was a Champlain Valley Heating & Plumbing customer. Who services my equipment now?

We do. Adirondack Heat Pumps took over the Montcalm Street building in July 2024 and services furnaces, boilers, water heaters and air conditioners from that era, not just heat pumps. See our page for former Champlain Valley customers or just call.

Can you handle a camp on the north end of Lake George that sits empty all winter?

That is one of the most common jobs we do. We set the system to hold 50°F, connect it to the Mitsubishi Comfort app so you get an alert if it cannot hold setpoint, and there is no propane tank to run dry while you are away.

Do you do anything besides heat pumps?

Yes. From the Ticonderoga shop we install and service RUUD propane furnaces, boilers, central air conditioning and hybrid heat-pump water heaters, and we repair existing systems of any brand. If a heat pump is not the right fit for your house, we will say so and quote the alternative.
