Farm country on one side, Lake George camps on the other
Putnam is one of the quieter towns we serve and one of the closest. Route 22 runs through Putnam Station between Ticonderoga and Whitehall, with dairy farms and farmhouses on the Champlain Valley side and the hills rising west toward Lake George. Over those hills, Gull Bay, Glenburnie and the roads down to Huletts Landing hold camps and lake houses on the east shore that are reached by long seasonal roads and, in a few cases, mostly by boat.
No natural gas, as nowhere around here. Farmhouses heat with oil and wood; camps run on propane and electric baseboard because they were built for summer. Putnam is in Washington County, so it is National Grid territory even though Ticonderoga next door is NYSEG. Winter design temperature is about -10°F, with the east shore getting the full wind across the lake.
For an east-shore camp the Mitsubishi system is the winterizing tool: hold 50°F cheaply, get an alert on your phone if it cannot, and cool the place in August. For a farmhouse it is an oil conversion zoned room by room, usually with the boiler kept as backup until you are comfortable letting it go. Either way the crew is 15 minutes away.

Why Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat works in Putnam
Winter on Lake George is colder than most people downstate expect. Design temperatures around Putnam run close to -10°F, the wind off the lake adds to it, and shoulder-season nights in April and October still call for heat. Mitsubishi Electric Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) equipment delivers 100% of its rated heating capacity at 5°F, keeps operating to -13°F, and the H2i Plus and FS-series models we install run to -22°F.
Because the inverter compressor modulates rather than cycling, a Hyper-Heat system runs low and quiet most of the winter and only ramps up on the handful of nights that need it. That is also what makes it cheap to hold a camp at 50°F while you are away. We size from a room-by-room load calculation and tell you honestly whether a backup heat source still earns its keep.

What we install in Putnam
Lakefront camps and year-round village homes need different systems. These are the ones we install most around Putnam:
- East-shore camps at Gull Bay and Glenburnie with freeze alerts and summer cooling
- Propane and electric baseboard replacements in seasonal homes
- Farmhouse oil conversions zoned room by room with the boiler kept as backup if you like
- Single-zone mini-splits for additions and farm offices
- Insulated barns, shops and outbuildings with a single Hyper-Heat unit
- Same-week repair and maintenance on any brand from 15 minutes away
Single-zone ductless
One outdoor unit, one indoor unit. The right answer for an addition, a great room, a camp or the one room the furnace never reaches.
Ductless mini-splits →Multi-zone systems
One Hyper-Heat outdoor unit feeding up to 8 indoor units, each on its own thermostat.
Indoor unit styles →Whole-home conversions
Replace the oil or propane boiler as the primary heat source. Ductless zones, a ducted air handler, or both.
Whole-home heat pumps →Ducted air handlers
A Mitsubishi SVZ or PVA air handler drops in where an old furnace was and uses the ducts you already have.
Ducted systems →Repair & maintenance
Mitsubishi-certified service on any brand of heat pump, plus furnaces, boilers and central AC. Flat-rate maintenance pricing posted online.
Heat pump repair →RUUD furnaces, boilers & AC
When a heat pump is not the right fit, we install RUUD propane furnaces, high-efficiency boilers and central air, and hybrid heat-pump water heaters.
Traditional HVAC →Heat pump rebates for Putnam homeowners
Putnam is National Grid territory, so NYS Clean Heat rebates run through National Grid rather than NYSEG. The program works the same way: Adirondack Heat Pumps is a participating contractor, the rebate is applied on the invoice, and whole-home conversions off oil, propane or electric baseboard generally qualify for more than a single room.
Because the shop is so close, we can usually schedule a Putnam install quickly enough to catch a program deadline when one is announced.
Programs and tiers change, so we do not print dollar figures here. We confirm your exact amount at the free estimate and file the paperwork for you. See rebates & savings and financing.

Heat pump questions from Putnam homeowners
Can you reach a camp at Gull Bay or Glenburnie?
Yes. Our crews have done east-shore installs on the seasonal roads. If access is tight or seasonal we plan the install for a time the road is open and bring everything in one trip.
Which rebate applies in Putnam?
Putnam is in Washington County and served by National Grid, so NYS Clean Heat rebates run through National Grid. We are a participating contractor and apply the rebate on the invoice.
How far is Putnam from your shop?
About 15 minutes down Route 22 from Ticonderoga. It is one of the closest towns we serve.
Will a heat pump hold my camp above freezing all winter?
Yes. Set it to 50°F, connect it to the Mitsubishi Comfort app and you get an alert if it cannot hold setpoint. There is no propane tank to run dry.
Can you heat a barn or shop?
Yes. A single Hyper-Heat unit carries an insulated outbuilding. One of our customers heats a 30x40 insulated metal building with one head and says it handles it great.
