A river village of brick and stone, heated mostly with oil
Keeseville grew up around the Ausable River's water power, and the village still has the stone and brick mill-era buildings and 1800s homes to show for it, on both the Essex County and Clinton County sides of the river. Outside the village the town of Chesterfield has farmhouses, newer homes along Route 9 and Route 22, and houses near Ausable Chasm and the Champlain shore at Port Kent. Winter design temperature is about -10°F; the river valley holds cold air overnight.
There is no natural gas. Oil is the main fuel, with propane in the newer homes and electric baseboard in smaller houses and apartments. Many of the old village homes have boilers and radiators and no ducts, so a ductless Mitsubishi system zoned room by room is the natural fit. The newer houses with propane furnaces and ducts get a ducted Mitsubishi air handler that uses what is already there.
Keeseville is 55 minutes from Ticonderoga and sits on the way to both Plattsburgh and the Ausable valley toward Wilmington, so it is on two of our routes. Estimates are free, our own crew installs, and service calls are grouped with Peru and Plattsburgh.

Why Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat works in Keeseville
The Champlain Valley is milder than the High Peaks but still serious cold. The design temperature around Keeseville is roughly -10°F, with a few nights most winters that go lower and a damp lake wind that makes old houses feel colder than the number. Mitsubishi Electric Hyper-Heating INVERTER (H2i) equipment delivers 100% of its rated heating capacity at 5°F, keeps operating to -13°F, and the newer H2i Plus and FS-series models run to -22°F. That is a comfortable margin for a Keeseville winter.
The inverter compressor modulates its speed to match the load instead of cycling on and off, which is where most of the efficiency comes from. On a 25°F day the system runs low and quiet; on the coldest night of the year it ramps to full output. We size every system from a room-by-room load calculation, not the square footage on a tax card.

What we install in Keeseville
No two houses around Keeseville are alike, so we do not sell a package. These are the system types we install most often here:
- Whole-home oil conversions in brick and clapboard village homes with radiators and no ducts
- Ducted air handlers in newer homes along Route 9 and Route 22 that already have ductwork
- Electric baseboard replacements in apartments and smaller houses
- Farmhouses in Chesterfield with a mix of ductless zones and a ducted unit
- Homes near Port Kent and the Champlain shore with summer cooling
- Repair and maintenance on any brand, plus RUUD furnace and boiler service
Single-zone ductless
One outdoor unit, one indoor unit. The right answer for an addition, a great room, a camp or the one room the furnace never reaches.
Ductless mini-splits →Multi-zone systems
One Hyper-Heat outdoor unit feeding up to 8 indoor units, each on its own thermostat.
Indoor unit styles →Whole-home conversions
Replace the oil or propane boiler as the primary heat source. Ductless zones, a ducted air handler, or both.
Whole-home heat pumps →Ducted air handlers
A Mitsubishi SVZ or PVA air handler drops in where an old furnace was and uses the ducts you already have.
Ducted systems →Repair & maintenance
Mitsubishi-certified service on any brand of heat pump, plus furnaces, boilers and central AC. Flat-rate maintenance pricing posted online.
Heat pump repair →RUUD furnaces, boilers & AC
When a heat pump is not the right fit, we install RUUD propane furnaces, high-efficiency boilers and central air, and hybrid heat-pump water heaters.
Traditional HVAC →Heat pump rebates for Keeseville homeowners
Keeseville is NYSEG territory, which means NYS Clean Heat rebates administered through NYSEG apply to qualifying Mitsubishi cold-climate heat pump installs. Adirondack Heat Pumps is a participating contractor, so the rebate comes off your invoice instead of arriving as a check months later. Homes converting fully off oil or propane generally qualify for the higher tiers; single-zone and partial-home systems qualify for less.
The rebate is the same on the Essex County and Clinton County sides of the river; what matters is that your electric bill comes from NYSEG, which it does throughout Keeseville.
Programs and tiers change, so we do not print dollar figures here. We confirm your exact amount at the free estimate and file the paperwork for you. See rebates & savings and financing.
Run your numbers first. Our savings calculator compares your current oil, propane or electric bill against a Mitsubishi system and generates a $250-off code you can use at your estimate.

Heat pump questions from Keeseville homeowners
Can you put a heat pump in an 1800s brick house in Keeseville?
Yes. Brick and stone houses are zoned the same way as any radiator house: wall units in the main rooms, a floor-mounted unit where a radiator sat, and a multi-zone outdoor unit on the sheltered side. We run the line sets neatly on the exterior or through closets; masonry is not a problem.
Which rebate applies in Keeseville?
NYSEG serves both sides of Keeseville, so NYS Clean Heat rebates through NYSEG apply and we apply them on the invoice as a participating contractor.
How far is Keeseville from your shop?
About 55 minutes from Ticonderoga. Estimates are free, there is no travel charge on installs and we group Keeseville with Peru and Plattsburgh for service.
Does a heat pump work as the only heat in the Ausable valley?
In most Keeseville homes, yes. Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat delivers 100% capacity at 5°F and runs to -22°F on H2i Plus models. After the load calculation we tell you whether your house still wants the boiler as backup.
Can you replace electric baseboard in an apartment building?
Yes. Multi-zone systems give each unit its own thermostat, and replacing resistance heat is one of the quickest-payback jobs we do.

★★★★★“This is our second Mitsubishi heat pump … to heat the 30x40 insulated metal building with a single head we put up but handles it great. … they had to order and install the system in a little over 2 weeks to get it done by 12/31 to qualify for a large rebate and they got it done.”
